The Triumph 400 Scrambler is becoming more and more the reference for those who want a motorcycle that is versatile, light and accessible, while maintaining the scrambler DNA dear to the English brand. We offer you a short article to dive into the specificities of this model which promises a tasty blend of performance, ergonomics and style, and which is available at Good Motors agency from March 2025!

A compact single-cylinder engine that doesn't give up on performance

A careful technical sheet

Under its 13-liter tank, the Triumph 400 Scrambler houses a 398.15 cm³ liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, equipped with a double overhead camshaft (double ACT) and a high compression ratio of 12:1. This configuration makes it possible to deliver 40 hp (29.4 kW) at 8,000 rpm, combined with a maximum torque of 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. For an engine of this capacity, these figures are among the best on the market, guaranteeing long-lasting recoveries and appreciable responsiveness when exiting corners.

Versatility thanks to the 6-speed gearbox

In the world of scrambler, ease of use is often a decisive criterion. Triumph understood this by equipping its 400 Scrambler with a 6-speed gearbox, ensuring smooth use of the speed range. The oil-filled multi-plate clutch, combined with an anti-dribbling system, considerably reduces jolts during muscular downshifts. The result: driving as pleasant in town as on country roads, with the serenity of an engine that does not run out of steam in laps.

A chassis designed for reliability and maneuverability

Tubular frame and bolted back buckle

The Triumph 400 Scrambler is based on a tubular, perimeter steel frame with a bolted rear buckle. This hybrid design, combining steel and aluminum alloy, ensures optimal rigidity while containing the total weight at 179 kg (full weight). With its 1418 mm wheelbase, the bike finds an excellent compromise between stability at high speed and agility in urban environments.

Controlled suspension and ground clearance

The front end is powered by a 43mm BPF inverted fork, offering 150mm of travel. This technology, inherited from the competition, guarantees precise hydraulic control and a capacity to absorb road irregularities. At the rear, there is a gas shock absorber with external reservoir and adjustable preload, also with 150 mm of travel. On dirt roads or degraded roads, the Triumph 400 Scrambler knows how to absorb bumps while maintaining a stable trajectory.

A scrambler look that doesn't deceive

Alloy wheels and mixed tyres

In terms of aesthetics, the Triumph 400 Scrambler appropriates the codes of traditional scramblers: aluminum alloy front and rear wheels (19 x 2.5 inches and 17 x 3.5 inches respectively), shod with mixed tires 100/90-19 at the front and 140/80-17 at the rear. This configuration provides good traction on dirt roads and reassuring behavior on asphalt.

Ground clearance and seat height

With a seat height of 835mm, this Triumph 400 Scrambler remains accessible to a wide range of riders. The 23.2° inclination and the 108 mm flush contribute to stable and predictable cornering behavior, while the wide handlebars (901 mm) promote an upright and comfortable driving position. The 1,169 mm height excluding the mirrors confirms that we are in the presence of a visually impressive motorcycle, without being difficult to handle.

Braking and safety in all circumstances

High-performance discs and meticulous ABS

When it comes to braking, the Triumph 400 Scrambler opts for a fixed 320mm disc at the front, pinched by a ByBre™ four-piston radial caliper, while at the rear, a 230mm disc provides additional braking via a single-piston caliper. Both are equipped with ABS to prevent unintended blocking. This configuration is tough enough for quick stops in urban areas, while remaining flexible on soft ground.

Control and stability

The rigor of the chassis and the quality of the suspensions combine with the braking system to guarantee a feeling of confidence from the first turns of the wheel. This Triumph 400 Scrambler is not content with a neat aesthetic: it also shows real dynamic efficiency, whether you push it to its limits or simply use it for a daily commute.

Comfort and instrumentation at the service of pleasure

Ergonomic design for varied routes

The Triumph Scrambler 400 is intended to be versatile, which is reflected in the ergonomic choices: intermediate seat height of 83.5 cm, compact 13 L tank, wide handlebars, and an upright driving position that is easy on the rider's back. With a low weight and a consumption of around 3.5 L/100 km, you will be able to line up the kilometers without fear of being flat too fast or experiencing excessive fatigue.

Multifunction analog/LCD dashboard

The cockpit combines an analog speedometer with a multi-function LCD screen. You will find all the essential information: fuel gauge, gear indicator, clock and warning lights. Simplicity and modernity thus meet in a readable interface, in keeping with the traditional scrambler spirit, but with the touch of technology that is expected from a current model.

Why fall for the Triumph 400 Scrambler?

The Triumph 400 Scrambler combines all the qualities of a motorcycle that is accessible, versatile and fun to ride. Its nearly 400cm³ single-cylinder engine delivers more than adequate performance for daily use or for a few getaways out of town. Its successful chassis, its inverted suspensions and its radial brakes highlight impeccable solidity and handling.

If you are looking for a compact, powerful scrambler, and appreciate the attention Triumph takes to design and detail, then this 400 Scrambler is undoubtedly a smart choice. It shakes up the hierarchy of small and medium-sized cars by offering a neo-retro look with very modern accents, without losing sight of the essential: offering a fun and secure machine for your daily trips as well as for your adventure trips!

Speaking of adventure precisely, this motorcycle being available for A2 licenses, we suggest that at Good Motors agency you come and try it for yourself by going to our page, and then selecting the city of your choice.
