Motorcycle models available in Lyon
We offer a range of motorcycle models available for rent in Lyon, suited to all types of riders, from locals looking for urban mobility to travelers wishing to explore the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
For beginners or those who only have a 125cc license, 125cc motorcycles are ideal. Designed for urban travel, they offer exceptional maneuverability and are perfect for riding around the streets of Lyon, particularly around Bellecour and the roads along the Rhône. Their light weight and moderate fuel consumption make them a popular choice for getting around town efficiently.
Designed for A2 license holders, 400cc to 750cc motorcycles offer more power while remaining accessible. With their mid-range engine size, they offer the perfect balance between comfort and performance, ideal for rides along the banks of the Rhône, on the winding roads of the Alps, or on getaways to the Beaujolais region. They are also suitable for trips to Grenoble, Chambéry, or the roads of Savoie.
For motorcycle enthusiasts and thrill seekers, choose models ranging from 850cc to 1300cc. Requiring an A license, these motorcycles are designed for experienced riders ready to tame powerful machines. They are ideal for long trips in the Rhône-Alpes region, mountain passes, or a trip to Mont Ventoux via Provence.
Riding two-wheelers in and around Lyon
Lyon offers a dream setting for motorcycle enthusiasts. Riding a motorcycle in Lyon makes getting around the city much easier, especially when there are traffic jams on the city's main roads. Motorcycles also make it easier to find parking spaces in the city.
Leaving Lyon, motorcyclists can choose from numerous routes promising landscapes of great beauty. The winding roads of the Mont Pilat massif, famous for their technical bends, are a real playground. The Beaujolais wine route, with its vineyards and picturesque villages, offers a beautiful escape into the wine-growing countryside. As for the Alps, they invite motorcyclists to conquer the mountain passes and admire their lakes.
If you want to explore the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region by motorcycle, you can choose to rent a motorcycle in Grenoble and set off to conquer its Bastille and the Vercors massif, or rent a motorcycle in Annecy to tour the lake or explore the roads of Haute-Savoie.
What are the average rates for motorcycle rental in Lyon?
Motorcycle rental rates vary depending on the model chosen and the length of your stay. For a light 125cc motorcycle, expect to pay around €45 per 24 hours, which is ideal for a day of urban travel in Lyon or a ride along the Rhône. Mid-range models, perfect for reaching Grenoble, Chambéry, or the roads of Savoie, are in the middle price range, while larger models for mountain routes or long trips in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes can cost around €100 per 24 hours. The longer your rental, the more advantageous the daily rate: sliding scale rates are available, and for rentals of more than 12 days, a customized quote is available on request.
What are the requirements and documents needed to rent a motorcycle?
Renting a motorcycle in Lyon is easy, provided you have the right documents. For a 125cc bike, a Class B license is sufficient if you have held it for at least two years and have completed seven hours of practical training; a Class A1 license is also accepted. For intermediate-sized bikes up to 35 kW, a Class A2 license is required, with a minimum age of 18. For larger engines, an A license is mandatory and you must be at least 28 years old. A valid ID is required, and foreign drivers must present a valid license or an official translation. A bank deposit (security deposit) will be taken at the time of booking: the amount varies from €500 to €2,500 depending on the model. Finally, the motorcycle must be returned with a full tank of SP98 gasoline and clean, as you found it.
