Questions about our rental service?

Rental terms

Is there a minimum age requirement to be able to rent a motorcycle?

The minimum age depends on the motorcycle you want to rent:

- Large motorcycles (over 35 kW / 47.5 hp, like our BMW GS or Africa Twin): you must be [28/24 — à trancher] or older, with a full motorcycle license.

- Mid-size motorcycles (up to 35 kW, like our Royal Enfield 650s or Honda NX500): you must be 18 or older, with a motorcycle license valid for this power (A2 in Europe).

- 125cc bikes and scooters: you must be 18 or older, with a license allowing 125cc riding in your home country (A1 in Europe).

Visiting from outside Europe?
Your national motorcycle license applies according to what it allows at home: a full unrestricted motorcycle license (class 6 in Canada, M endorsement in the US, unrestricted class R in Australia...) gives you access to our whole catalogue, as long as you meet the age requirement. Riders under 18 cannot rent with us, even with a valid license.

Is there a charge if I want to cancel my rental?

Our cancellation policy is very flexible, so you can plan your trip with total peace of mind:
- Up to 10 days before departure: full refund (100%) to your original payment method. And if you book when there are fewer than 10 days left, you still have 1 hour after payment to get refunded the same way.
- Between 10 days and 24 hours before departure: Something came up? Bad weather? You get 100% back as credits on your Good Motors account. Use them whenever you like, on any bike in any city (and in several bookings if you want).
- Less than 24 hours before departure: a refund (to your payment method or as credit) is no longer possible. Just message us and our customer team will do everything they can to find a solution with you.

And remember: you're free to shift your dates or extend your rental, and more - all on your own, straight from your account!

What happens if I return the bike after the scheduled rental end date?

First of all, know that it is possible to extend the duration of the rental once you have started riding your motorcycle. All you have to do is login to your account and extend (or even add distance). If the option is greyed out, changes are the motorcycle is already booked and we can't extend BUT feel free to let us know by email via contact@goodmotors.agency (we totally understand that you want to make the fun last and we might find a way!)

In the event that you return the motorcycle later than agreed on the rental contract without notifying our team, Good Motors Agency will charge you a late payment penalty.

The bill can quickly increase, so plan the duration of your rental with a little margin, so that you can travel peacefully, and return the bike to us on time!

Can I book the bike for half a day?

We offer a rental service with a minimum duration of 8h.

If you want to rent a motorcycle for a period longer than 14 days, we offer discounted rates for long term rentals. Do not hesitate to contact us on contact@goodmotors.agency and we will send you a tailor-made quote!

I made a mistake, is it possible to change my reservation?

You are free to change dates, add extras (helmets, mileage and such) or even extend your rental all on your own in your account (depending on the motorcycle's availability).
If the mistake is too big to fix on your own, contact us at contact@goodmotors.agency and we will figure something out!

How do I rent a motorcycle at Good Motors agency?

Very good question! Here's how our rental service works.

First, go to our site https://goodmotors.agency/en

Then select your departure city, and your desired rental dates.

Then select the motorcycle model you like, then fill in the fields indicated. Do not forget to indicate the equipment you would like, as well as any luggage supplements.

That done, let yourself be guided step by step through the reservation process, while still being able to contact us in case of questions!

Identity

What license do you need to drive a 125cc motorcycle?

It depends on where your license was issued:

  • You live in France: you can ride a 125cc with an A1, A2 or A license, or with a French car license (B) held for at least 2 years plus the 7-hour training certificate. You are exempt from taking the training course in the following two cases: You obtained your Class B license (with A1 equivalence) before March 1980. You drove a light motorcycle or a three-wheeled scooter in the L5e category between 2006 and 2010, and you have held a Class B license for two years or more.
  • You are visiting from abroad: you can rent a 125cc if your license allows you to ride motorcycles of this size in your home country. A car-only license is not enough for visitors: the French "B license + training" rule only applies to French residents.

If you are not sure what your license covers in France, send us a photo of it at contact@goodmotors.agency and we will confirm before you book.

What identity documents are accepted to be able to drive a motorcycle in France?

For French riders, your French driver's license works as an official ID.

If you are visiting from abroad, bring:

  • your passport (or national ID card for EU citizens),
  • your driver's license, plus your International Driving Permit or official translation if the license is not in French.

That's all we need. Everything else is handled online before you arrive.

I have a foreign license, can I drive a motorcycle?

Yes, in most cases!

  • License issued in the EU or EEA: it is fully recognized in France. Just bring it, nothing else needed.
  • License issued outside the EU (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, etc.): your valid national motorcycle license is recognized during a tourist stay. If it is not written in French, it must be accompanied by an International Driving Permit (IDP) or an official French translation. UK photocard licenses are accepted without an IDP.

Our advice: get your IDP before you fly (AAA in the US, CAA in Canada, your local automobile association elsewhere). It costs a few dollars, takes minutes, and makes any roadside check painless.

Moving to France permanently? Different rules apply (your license stays valid for one year, then must be exchanged) — contact us and we will point you in the right direction.

What license do I need to drive a medium-power or large-capacity motorcycle?

To drive a motorcycle with a power not exceeding 35 kW (or 47.5 hp), you must have an A2 license.

To drive a large engine motorcycle, you need to have obtained an A license.

A license allows you to drive the following vehicles:

  • Motorcycle, with or without a sidecar, regardless of its power
  • 3 wheels with a power greater than 15 kW

Important: you must be 24 years old to be able to rent one of our large engine motorcycles!

Payment

What is a bank imprint, and how does it appear on my statement or banking application?

A bank imprint, also called a security hold, is a pre-authorization that is put in place in order to temporarily set aside a certain amount from your bank account.

The payment will appear on your statement as such, but is not debited, and will be returned to you in full at no charge at the end of the rental (if nothing went wrong, of course).

The process is secure all along, our banking organization providing services is BNP Paribas.

What is the amount of the bank imprint and why is there one?

The amount of the deposit varies according to the model of the motorcycle you have chosen.

It is from:

  • €500 for the Piaggio Liberty 125
  • €750 for the Royal Enfield Meteor, the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Yamaha XSR 125
  • €1000 for the Royal Enfield Interceptor
  • €1,250 for the Royal Enfield Super Meteor
  • €1,500 for the Yamaha Tenere 700, Moto Guzzi V9, Moto Guzzi V7 and Honda NX500
  • €1,750 for the Guzzi V85 TT, the Honda Transalp 2025, the Honda CB750 Hornet,
  • €2,000 for the Moto Guzzi V85 Travel Edition,
  • €2,500 for the Moto Guzzi Mandello V100, the BMW F900GS, the Honda Africa Twin

This allows us at Good Motors Agency to ensure your solvency in the event that it is necessary to deduct this amount in whole or in part, to cover expenses related to abnormal or abusive use of the vehicle, and contrary to the rental contract sent to you.

Can you give me an invoice for the rental?

We can, and will be happy to do so if you ask us, do not hesitate to contact us on this subject on contact@goodmotors.agency !

How does the online payment system work? Is it secure enough?

We work with Stripe to make the rental payment.

Used by millions of businesses around the world, Stripe is an e-commerce payment infrastructure that has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and benefits from Level 1 PCI Service Provider certification (this is the most stringent certification level in the payments industry).

We have no access and do not keep your bank details. Only the proof of payment is attached to your rental file, and allows us to ensure that the payment has been made.

Équipements

What helmets and gloves are available for rent?

We offer a range of helmets and gloves adapted to all sizes.

Our helmets offered for rent are from the NOX brand and are all ECE 22.05 approved. With a point of 1250g (+/-50g), they will adapt perfectly to your head and will provide you with the comfort you need for safe driving. The visor is treated anti-UV and anti-scratch, ensuring optimum visibility.

When and how do I pick up the equipment I rented?

Once the rental payment has been made, as well as the deposit bank imprint made, we will send you - approx 30min before your rental start - all the necessary instructions via email to go to the exact location in the car park where the motorcycle is located. Next to your motorcycle will be a locker containing equipment and helmets/gloves of various sizes. You will then only have to pick up the equipment in the locker that was assigned to you (the code will be provided to you) and retrieve all the rented equipment.

Where is the bike and how do I unlock it?

Our motorcycles are mainly located in car parks located near train stations and airports, in more than 12 cities in France.

On your start day, 30min approx. before your pick-up time, you will receive all the information you need to get to where our motorbikes are parked inside the parking. You can then identify yours using the license plate number.

In the explanatory email, you will also find the code for the key box. You will also find the lock key, as well as a badge to leave the car park (depending on the cities concerned). Be sure to keep the keys and the badge!

If you had chosen additional equipment, it will be in a locker next to the motorcycle. All you have to do is get the code, open the locker, install and put on your equipment, switch on the ignition and off you go!

I don't have motorcycle equipment, is it possible to rent one?

Of course! We offer a varied choice of equipment for rent, ranging from helmets and gloves, to side bags, to side bags with more capacity, to top cases, to side cases and top cases to be installed on the motorcycle, to carry all the equipment you need.

Is it possible to take the motorcycle at an agency and return it elsewhere?

No problem! We offer this possibility through our OneWay offer.

To do this, please let us know your wish to drop off the motorcycle elsewhere than at its place of origin, as soon as you first contact us. You must return it to one of our agencies in France.

We will then send you a quote adapted to your request.
Please note one ways are not always possible for logistic reasons -but we'll do our best!

How does the check-in inspection work when picking up the motorcycle?

During

The motorcycle does not start/does not drive anymore, what should I do?

First of all keep your cool, and contact us as soon as possible, by phone or by email via contact@goodmotors.agency. Sometimes minor issues can be resolved directly over the phone.

Good Motors Agency is responsible for maintaining the motorcycles made available. If a failure is proven during normal use of the motorcycle, it is therefore our responsibility, so you will not have to fix anything.

I lost the keychain/motorcycle badge, what should I do?

In the event that you lose the keys, you must first contact us as soon as possible. We will proceed with the production of a new key, the cost of which will be invoiced to you when the motorcycle is returned. We will then look for a solution to bring you a spare machine, or a new set of keys, depending on your location.

if you have lost the parking badge, we will have to charge you a fee of 50€ for creating a new badge, so remember to store it in a secure place!

I had an accident, what should I do?

At Good Motors Agency, your safety is our top priority. Although we do not like to think of this possibility, we must inform you about the practices and rules to follow if this happens to you, or to your fellow travelers.

In the event of an accident, first of all, try not to panic, then:

Protect yourself and your environment

If you are clearly not injured and in no apparent pain, try moving the motorcycle to the side of the road away from the traffic lane. Only do it if you can and safely!

Prevent or get notified immediately

In case of injury, alert the emergency services and dial the emergency number 112 from a mobile phone. Then follow the instructions. You can also call 15 for the SAMU or 17 for the police and the national gendarmerie. Or dial 112, the EU-wide emergency number (the European equivalent of 911). It works from any phone, in English.

Once you are safe and emergency services are on the way, contact us by phone via the emergency call button indicated in your customer area.

Try to let us know where this happened, the time, and any other information you think is useful. We will contact our Partner Assistance in order to send you a tow truck as soon as possible and put you in contact with it.

Have the accident recorded

Ask potential witnesses to provide their testimonies. Note their identity or license plate if you can. Take photos of the scene of the accident, as well as the environment around you.

If possible, draw up a report. If you cannot do it we will take care of these steps later.

Then wait for our Partner Assistance to intervene and come and tow the vehicle if it is no longer in driving condition. You will be taken to the nearest garage, or the one we are used to working with.

Depending on the situation, we will assess the best solution for you. An on-call is in place on this subject so that you can contact us at any time.

I've blown a tire, who should I contact?

In case of a flat tire, please let us know as soon as possible, and do not try to continue driving the motorcycle! Call us or send us an email via contact@goodmotors.agency.

The cost of replacing a flat tire is borne by the renter. In the event that both tires need to be changed, Good Motors Agency will cover half of the cost of repairing the second tire, with the first always remaining the responsibility of the renter.

However, in the event that the puncture is due to an abnormal wear and tear of the tire, all costs will be borne by Good Motors Agency.

After

I have driven more than expected on my mileage pass, is that serious?

No, but we will then have to charge you an additional charge per kilometer traveled, depending on the model of the motorcycle. Remember to carefully adjust your mileage package (you can even do so DURING your rental).

If you are planning a (very) long ride over several days, do not hesitate to let us know!

I have lost or damaged equipment

If this ever happens to you, please contact us by email at contact@goodmotors.agency as soon as possible.

In the event of loss of the equipment, helmet or glove for example, you will be charged the purchase price of the equipment in question. We will send you a link showing you the amount to be paid.

In the event that the equipment is damaged, an inspection will be made and we will get back to you on this subject on a case-by-case basis.

It is important to let us know as soon as you are aware of the loss or damage to your equipment. If we notice that an item is missing or damaged after the motorcycle has been returned, we reserve the right to charge a penalty of €90 (in addition to the price of the equipment in question). The person booking after you will definitly let us know that something is wrong and we will investigate, so please be honest.

I think I was caught by a speed camera, what will happen?

If this happens to you, we ask you to let us know when returning the bike. You will be responsible for the amount of the reduced ticket, but also for a service fee worth €30.

Do I have to clean the vehicle before returning it?

We ask you to return the vehicle in the same condition in which you found it, clean! We recommend that you keep all receipts as proof.

Before returning your motorcycle, you will receive an email giving you the addresses of gas stations with a high-pressure washer in the area. The list is of course not exhaustive, and we recommend that you search on your smartphone for the most relevant place to wash the vehicle.

Our recommendation: if you wash your motorcycle in a car wash, we ask you to keep the nozzle about 1 meter from the motorcycle, as the pressure caused by the washing nozzles can sometimes cause a hose to come off, hindering the operation of the engine. You don't want to be stuck in a car wash just before returning the bike!

Good Motors Agency reserves the right to charge you €50 in the event that the motorcycle is abnormally dirty outside, for travel and cleaning expenses.

We pay particular attention to the cleanliness of our motorcycles. Thinking about making a motorcycle clean is a gesture for the next rider, and so on!

Do I have to fill up with gas before returning the bike to you?

Yes, we ask you in fact to return the motorcycle with a full tank of gas, as when you picked it up.

You will need to send us a photo of the gas station receipt with the amount and date shown, as well as the full fuel gauge.

If you have forgotten this step, we will be forced to charge you an amount of €50 for the intervention costs and the refueling to be carried out.

Important: our motorcycles all work with SP98 (the equivalent of 93 octane premium in North America)do not put diesel in the tank!

How does the check-out inspection work when returning the motorcycle?

You will receive an email from us 6 hours before the end of your rental with a link. You will have to go to this link with your smartphone and follow the steps indicated on the page.

You will have to follow the instructions and some photos, as you did when you took the motorcycle.

Make sure that all items are tidy, just as you found them when you got on your motorcycle. Penalties apply if the inspection is carried out incorrectly (you will find the amount of these penalties on our dedicated page)

You will finally have to enter the mileage number, then click on “validate the inspection” so that all the information is automatically saved. Then we are done here! See you next time?
