The price of a motorcycle rental in France depends above all on two things: the license category you hold and the length of the rental. At Good Motors, rates run from 39 € per 24 h for a 125 to 97 € for the largest displacements. This page brings together the full rate table, the conditions to meet and the cities where you can pick up a motorcycle self-service.
How much renting a motorcycle in France costs
The amounts below are those in the catalogue, which shows the price per 24 h for each model. The minimum billed duration is 24 h: you may return the motorcycle earlier, the period is still due.
| License category | From | A few models and their prices |
|---|---|---|
| A1, up to 125 cm³ | 39 € per 24 h | Piaggio Liberty 39 €, Honda Dax 41 €, Yamaha XSR 125 45 € |
| A2, up to 35 kW (47.5 hp) | 45 € per 24 h | Royal Enfield Himalayan 45 €, Kawasaki W800 56 €, Honda NX500 68 € |
| A, any displacement | 56 € per 24 h | Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber 56 €, Honda Transalp 76 €, Honda Africa Twin 97 € |
The motorcycle pages then announce sliding-scale rates: the amount per 24 h falls as the rental gets longer, and the exact total appears once you have entered your dates.
What the price includes
Insurance is included in every rental, and the detail of the cover is on the insurance page. Every motorcycle also leaves with a phone mount, straps and a lock, at no extra charge.
Equipment depends on the motorcycle category. On 125s and A2 motorcycles, the helmet and gloves rent for 5 € a day, the top case 5 € and the side bags 7 €, as the Honda NX500 page states. On motorcycles that require the A license, the helmet and gloves are free for the whole rental, and several models, such as the Honda Africa Twin, already come fitted with their side cases and their top case. Your booking also includes a mileage allowance, which you adjust from your customer account if you ride more than expected.
The conditions for renting a motorcycle
Your license category determines the motorcycle you have access to.
- Light motorcycle of 125 cm³: A1 license, or a car license (category B) held for at least two years together with the 7-hour practical training course.
- Intermediate-power motorcycle, up to 35 kW (47.5 hp): A2 license.
- Motorcycle of more than 35 kW: a valid A license.
The minimum age is 18 years old at the time of booking, whatever the displacement. No additional age condition applies to large-displacement motorcycles, and no minimum license seniority is asked for: the pass certificate from the test is accepted while you wait for the final license.
The security deposit takes the form of a pre-authorization hold, which sets an amount aside on your account without charging it, then releases it at the end of the rental. That amount depends on the model, from 500 € for the Piaggio Liberty to 2,500 € for the Honda Africa Twin. Each motorcycle page shows its own, and the FAQ gives the full list.
Cancellation is free up to 10 days before departure, with a refund to the payment method used. Between 10 days and 24 hours before departure, the amount is converted into credit, valid with no time limit. Less than 24 hours before, the rental is no longer refunded, but you can write to us: a change of dates or another solution remains possible, at our discretion.
Renting a motorcycle over a long period
For a rental of several weeks or several months, the price goes through a quote. We then build a custom plan, according to the actual duration and the mileage you need. No monthly price is therefore advertised on the site, and the quote request is made from the page of the model you are interested in.
How it works is detailed in our article on long-term motorcycle rental.
Where to pick up your motorcycle
The motorcycles are kept in parking garages close to train stations, airports and city centers, accessible 7 days a week from 8 am to 10 pm. Pickup is done on your own, with no rental office and no paper to sign. Ten cities are served.
- Motorcycle rental in Paris
- Motorcycle rental in Lyon
- Motorcycle rental in Marseille
- Motorcycle rental in Bordeaux
- Motorcycle rental in Nice
- Motorcycle rental in Toulouse
- Motorcycle rental in Montpellier
- Motorcycle rental in Biarritz
- Motorcycle rental in Avignon
- Motorcycle rental in Aix-en-Provence
You can also leave from one city and return the motorcycle in another thanks to the OneWay option. Mention it as soon as you make your request, and a matching quote is sent to you.
The alternatives to renting a motorcycle
Depending on the trip, other solutions are worth comparing.
- The 125 scooter suits short city trips and is ridden with an A1 license, or with a car license (category B) together with the 7-hour training course.
- A rental car remains more practical with several people, with luggage or in bad weather, at the cost of harder parking in the city center.
- The train combined with a carpool or a ride-hailing car works well for a one-off round trip, less so for a stay whose schedule changes from day to day.
