Renting an A2 motorcycle with a recent licence: how does it work?

Have you just obtained your A2 license? Congratulations, it's the start of a great adventure on two wheels. What will it take to drive an A2 in 2025?

The A2 license allows you to drive a motorcycle with a maximum power rating of 35 kW (47.5 hp). It's a compulsory 2-year stage before you can take your A license (all displacements).

Rules to know :

• Minimum age: 18
• A2-approved motorcycle: ≤ 35 kW original or limited (provided that the initial version does not exceed 70 kW)
• Power-to-weight ratio: ≤ 0.2 kW/kg
• Compulsory training: minimum 20 hours in a motorcycle school

• Progressive itinerary: avoid long stretches of freeway. Choose local roads, small passes and routes of 150 to 200 km.
• Solo recommended at first: driving as a duo requires greater ease, especially when stopping or maneuvering slowly.
• Choose a motorcycle adapted to your size: some A2s are tall or heavy when stationary. Choose a model that you can control well when stationary.
