The BMW R 12 G/S embodies the return of a myth: the two-cylinder boxer trail bike, a purely retro but modernized proposition. Inspired by the legendary 1980 R 80 G/S, it combines vintage aesthetics with contemporary technology.

It features the traditional 1,170 cm³ air/oil boxer engine, which develops 109 hp at 7,000 rpm and a generous 115 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.

Its chassis employs a monocoque tubular trellis frame with bolt-on rear buckle, suspended by an adjustable upside-down fork (210 mm travel) and 200 mm Paralever rear suspension, offering ground clearance compatible with enduro practice (240 mm according to certain markets).

In terms of equipment, Rain, Road and Enduro riding modes come as standard, with an optional Enduro Pro mode available via the eponymous package. It also features Dynamic Traction Control (DTC ) and MSR (engine braking control), which can be deactivated off-road.
