You have just passed your A2 license and you would like to ride without buying a motorcycle. It is possible as soon as you walk out of the test: the pass certificate from the test is accepted while you wait for the final license, and no minimum license seniority is asked for. Here are the conditions to meet, the A2 models you can rent, what a day costs and how to prepare your first weekend.
What the A2 license allows
The A2 license gives access to motorcycles whose power does not exceed 35 kW, that is 47.5 hp. You ride on it for two years before you can move up to the A license, all displacements.
- Minimum age: 18.
- Maximum power: 35 kW, as standard or after restriction, provided the original version does not exceed 70 kW.
- Power-to-weight ratio: 0.2 kW/kg at most.
- Training: at least 20 hours at a motorcycle school.
These criteria come from the licensing rules, not from Good Motors' commercial terms.
The conditions for renting an A2 motorcycle at Good Motors
The only age condition is being of age: 18 years old at the time of booking, with no upper age limit. What determines the motorcycle you can rent is your license, not your date of birth.
No minimum license seniority is required. You simply need to hold the license matching the motorcycle's category, and the pass certificate from the test is accepted while you wait for the final license: the document handed to you after the test is enough, you do not wait for the final card. So you can book your first A2 motorcycle in the days that follow passing.
The documents to present fit in three lines: your A2 license or its pass certificate, an identity document, and a bank card in the rider's name. The security deposit takes the form of a pre-authorization hold: the amount is set aside on your card, it is not charged, and it varies with the model. The detail is in the FAQ and on every motorcycle page.
If you do not have the license yet, the rule is different and another article covers it: what you can rent before taking your A2 test.

Four other A2 models round out the catalogue: the Honda GB350S from 45 € per 24 h, the Kawasaki W800 from 56 €, and the two electric Can-Am models, Origin and Pulse, from 45 €, which are ridden with no clutch and no gear selector.
Going away for a weekend on an A2 motorcycle
A weekend is the best ground for progress after the test, provided you do not aim too big for the first outing.
- Prefer back roads. They teach you more than the highway: one bend after another, moderate speed, calmer traffic.
- Travel light. The straps and the luggage rack are provided, a soft bag strapped down well is enough for two days. Depending on the model, a 58-liter top case is available at 5 € a day and 30-liter side bags at 7 € a day.
- Choose the model according to riding two-up. If you take a passenger, the Super Meteor 650 and the NX500 are the most comfortable of the selection. With two people, maneuvering at a standstill takes confidence.
- Plan your stops. Departure and return take place in a parking garage accessible from 8 am to 10 pm: set your last leg accordingly.
- Adjust your mileage allowance when you book. It is set at the same time as the dates, and is changed afterwards from your personal account.
To plan your route, Good Roads, our companion site in French, brings together our motorcycle itineraries starting from Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Avignon and Biarritz, with a free GPS track and our selection of addresses along the way. If you would rather have a route designed for you, we also put together custom itineraries: tell us what you have in mind when you book.
What is included in the rental
Every motorcycle leaves with the essentials fitted.
- Phone mount, straps and lock: free with the motorcycle.
- Insurance included in the posted price, with no hidden cost.
- Digital check-in inspection at departure and on return.
- Customer service 7 days a week, staffed from 8 am to 10 pm.
As an option, you can add an approved helmet and gloves for 5 € a day, a top case for 5 € a day and side bags for 7 € a day. Mileage works as an allowance, chosen when you book; if you ride more than planned, a supplement per kilometer is charged afterwards, its amount depending on the model.
Frequently asked questions

How much is the security deposit, and is it charged?
The security deposit takes the form of a pre-authorization hold, which sets an amount aside without taking it. That amount depends on the model: it runs from 750 € on the Meteor 350 and the Himalayan 450 to 1,500 € on the NX500. The detail for each motorcycle is in the FAQ.
Where do you pick up the motorcycle?
